Applesauce Cake—Claudia Reynolds, college roommate.

Ingredients:
½ c shortening
1 ½ c sugar
2 eggs
1 c raisins
1 ½ c pecans
1 ½ c applesauce
½ c water
1 T corn syrup
2 ½ c flour
1 ½ t soda
½ t cloves
½ t allspice
¾ t cinnamon
¾ t nutmeg
½ t salt

Directions:
Cream together the shortening, sugar, eggs, raisins, applesauce, water, corn syrup, and nuts. Sift together the dry ingredients and add to the first mixture. Bake at 350º in a greased and floured pan. 35 minutes. May add 1T cocoa to dry ingredients.
