Linda's Taffy

Ingredients:
Combine:
2 c sugar
½ c corn syrup
½ c honey
½ c water
½ c margarine
pinch of salt

Directions:
Melt ingredients together on low heat and then boil until hard-crack stage (syrup makes brittle strings when dribbled off of spoon into cold water—the softer the crack the chewier the candy). Add flavoring and/or coloring at this time if desired. Pour onto buttered glass plates and cool. Lift cooler edges to the middle allowing hotter syrup to run to the outside edges of the plate—two or three times. When cool enough to handle without burning your hands scrape from plate. Pull and twist until the taffy is much lighter in color and glistens like satin. Twist onto wax paper sheets and score with a knife. Break and wrap in wax paper squares. This recipe can be doubles or tripled but make sure you have enough help to pull all the taffy before it gets too cool.
